Motion 27-04

The Equitable Food Access Committee is created to address this issue by restoring

EBT availability and closing the current access gap that disproportionately impacts low income

students. As of this committee’s formation, students living in the PCV and Cerro Vista Neighborhoods are unable to pay for groceries via Calfresh at Hilltop. CalFresh, also commonly known as EBT, is California’s SNAP program, a program many students rely on for groceries. Students in PCV and Cerro Vista are overwhelmingly continuing students, and rely on self-prepared food from groceries, instead of on-campus dining halls. While Hilltop does not currently accept Calfresh, it has previously, most recently in the spring of 2025.
